Casio’s new Oceanus uses a marble ceramic bezel inspired by ocean currents

Casio has announced a new Oceanus watch with a bezel that is difficult to overlook. The OCW-SG1000MC uses marble ceramic to represent the movement of ocean currents, rather than relying on a plain polished ring around the dial.
The company combines black and white ceramic to create the swirling pattern, with blue-green colour appearing where the materials meet. It gives the watch a more distinctive appearance without adding another screen or a long list of smart features.
This is an analogue, radio-controlled solar watch in the Oceanus range. Casio’s announcement schedules its release for November 13, so the October announcement should not be confused with immediate availability.
What I like about the design is that the bezel carries the idea. The ocean reference is built into the material rather than simply printed onto the face.
Whether the finish looks as appealing on the wrist as it does in product photographs is still a separate question. Buyers should check the regional listing for the exact model, price and availability before treating the Japanese release date as a worldwide launch.
