Garmin Enduro 4 launches at $899.99, with solar-assisted battery life its main attraction

Charging a watch in the middle of a long outdoor trip is not particularly convenient. Garmin’s new Enduro 4 is aimed at people who would rather keep tracking than keep looking for a charger, and it launches with a suggested price of $899.99.
Garmin pairs a 1.4-inch memory-in-pixel display with solar charging. The company advertises up to 320 hours in activity mode and up to 90 days in smartwatch mode under its specified conditions. These are maximum manufacturer figures, not battery results from our testing.
The display choice is worth noticing. This is not an AMOLED watch built primarily around bright colours and animations; Garmin is putting endurance at the centre of the product.
I like that the purpose is straightforward. If your main activities involve extended outdoor training, the battery claims are relevant. If you mainly want notifications and occasional workout tracking, the $899.99 price deserves more thought. The Enduro 4 is available according to Garmin, but local stock and import costs will depend on where you buy it.
