JBL BassPro Go2 switches from a docked subwoofer to a portable speaker

JBL’s BassPro Go2 is built for people who want audio in a vehicle or boat, but still want to take their speaker with them afterwards. It works as a powered subwoofer on its 12-volt docking base and becomes a full-range Bluetooth speaker when removed.
Docked and portable listening
JBL rates portable playback at up to eight hours. The speaker also supports Bluetooth 5.4 and Auracast, with controls and settings available through the JBL ONE app.
The company includes a base plate, power harness, remote bass control and home charging adapter. Its design adds UV and salt-spray protection, alongside an IPX4 splash-resistance rating. That is not the same as being safe to submerge.
Installation and pricing
The two-mode setup is what I find interesting. You can leave the installation in place and take the speaker to a campsite or another gathering, instead of buying completely separate systems for each use.
Still, this is not a normal pocket-sized speaker purchase. Check installation requirements and how you intend to use the dock before deciding whether the extra flexibility is worth it. JBL’s announcement does not specify a retail price.
