Samsung Art Store adds 30 British Museum works for compatible TVs

Samsung has added 30 works from the British Museum to its Art Store, giving owners of compatible TVs more choices for what appears on the screen when they are not watching a programme.

What the British Museum collection includes

The collection includes works by John Constable and J. M. W. Turner, with subjects ranging from English countryside scenes to stormy seas and European cities. Samsung says the collection became available on October 6.

There is no new television to buy as part of this announcement. This is a content update for compatible Samsung Art TVs, and access requires an Art Store subscription.

TV compatibility and subscription

I like the idea of making a large screen useful outside normal viewing. If your television already occupies a prominent part of the room, artwork gives you another way to use that space.

The subscription requirement is still worth checking. This is not a free gallery being added to every Samsung TV, and artwork availability can change. Existing owners should check their model’s compatibility and local Art Store offering before expecting the British Museum collection to appear.
